Nothing is simple in Toy Boy, a show about a male stripper wrongly convicted of murder who, along with the help of a young lawyer, attempts to find the real culprit. The problem? There are actually multiple crimes — and multiple murderers — in the first season alone.

As the series unfolds, we discover that twentysomething “toy boy” Hugo Beltrán (Jesús Mosquera) is found on his houseboat with the charred body of Philip Norman (Virgil Mathet), the husband of Hugo’s lover, Macarena Medina (Cristina Castaño). Despite having no memory of the night, Hugo is convicted of murder and imprisoned for seven years, until a young lawyer at a high-powered firm, Triana Marín (María Pedraza), successfully petitions for a new trial and gets him out of prison.

The pair uncovers a conspiracy that involves crooked cops, billionaire business rivals, the Irish mafia, an orgy and an innocent teenager. And the question of the real culprit is actually several questions — because there are several murders. Read on as we outline each murder and the person behind it (and consider this your Spoiler Alert for the entire plot of Season 1).

Victim 1: Alvaro Rojas

If Philip isn’t the body on the boat, who is it? The answer: Alvaro Rojas, a member of the Rojas family — aka the Medinas’ biggest business rivals. But his murder isn’t due to a cutthroat deal gone wrong, nor does it have to do with the prostitution ring he was apparently running. He happens to walk in on young Andrea Norman Medina (Juanjo Almeida) being sexually assaulted and begins beating up the assailant — Andrea’s uncle and Macarena’s brother, Mateo Medina de Solís (Álex Gadea). Mateo kills Alvaro in the fight. The reason Philip fakes his own death doesn’t have to do with Alvaro’s murder, but rather an outstanding debt he doesn’t want to pay.

Victim 2: Philip Norman

Though Philip fakes his own death and is actually alive and well in Tangier the entire time Hugo is imprisoned, Philip eventually is murdered. Borja Medina (José Manuel Seda) confesses to killing Philip — after we find out that Borja used to hire prostitutes that looked like his sister, Macarena.

Victim 3: Triana Marín?

In the closing moments of the series, a bomb explodes at the strip club where Hugo and his pals work. Triana is knocked unconscious, but is she actually dead? As her motionless body sits in the rubble, a voice-over from Hugo laments losing everything. It’s unclear whether she’s actually dead, though it’s fair for Hugo to assume the worst. And since this show is essentially full of criminals, there are many suspects who could be responsible for the bombing. Is it the Irish mobsters the strippers fleeced in the episode prior? Is it the Rojas family who are mad at Triana for taking Hugo’s side and trying to prove his innocence? Is it Zapata (Pedro Casablanc), the crooked cop who isn’t really on anyone’s side but his own? You’ll have to watch Season 2 to find out...
