Eddie Horniman doesn’t wait for permission to make his next move — so it’s not surprising that The Gentlemen has been confirmed for Season 3.
Creator and director Guy Ritchie says, “The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded, and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”
In the dramedy’s second season, which just debuted, Theo James’s Eddie was no longer the reluctant duke finding his footing in a criminal underworld. He was focused on scaling up his empire by expanding into Italy and diving into parliamentary politics, which tested his business relationship with Bobby (Ray Winstone) and Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) — and led to significant losses for him. While Eddie winds up on top once again, lead writer and executive producer Matthew Read hopes fans are concerned about Eddie’s soul after the last shot of Season 2.
“I would hope the question is more, ‘What is he capable of now?’” says Read. “Has he gone mad or is he moving towards a place where he could be this leader, this ruthless leader who is capable of extraordinary things?”
James raises a similar question: “How much of himself does he lose whilst getting revenge on everyone that’s hurt him?”

And what of Eddie and Susie’s business partnership? Sure, they’re thick as thieves once again in the finale, but Susie also knows she shouldn’t take that for granted after everything that has transpired. (You can even see her wariness in a recently-released deleted scene from Season 2’s finale.)
“By the very end, she realizes that she can’t be under her father’s name anymore, that she needs to branch out on her own, and that she can’t rely on Eddie to be her partner anymore,” says Scodelario.
Your guess is as good as anyone’s about what this all means for Season 3. But if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that all bets are off.
