And … action! The Gentlemen Season 2 has officially begun filming. The series, inspired by the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name, follows the extralegal misadventures of Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass and will return to Netflix for a deeper look into the criminal underbelly of aristocratic Britain.

Season 1 of The Gentlemen concerns Eddie (Theo James), who becomes the new Duke of Halstead following his father’s death. In addition to the new title, Eddie also inherits the family’s sizable country estate — and the illegal weed farm located underneath it, run by the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie (Kaya Scodelario) and her crime boss father Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone). Although hesitant to join the criminal lifestyle at first, Eddie develops a taste for it and finds an unexpected ally in Susie as they face down the UK and Europe’s most notorious (and hilarious) gangster families. And by the end of the first eight episodes, Eddie solidifies himself as co-owner — along with Susie and Bobby — of the Glasses’ massive weed empire.

James, Scodelario, and Daniel Ings — who plays Eddie’s brother Freddy — are confirmed to reprise their roles in the eight-episode second season. Ritchie is returning to direct, and will co-write the series with Matthew Read.

“I am delighted to return to set for Season 2 of The Gentlemen,” Ritchie tells Tudum. “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”

“It’d be fun to see the business spread a bit more,” Scodelario told Tudum when the show launched. “How do they take it to the next level? They’re very adamant about not getting into the chop game, so how do they then continue to build the empire? Where does that take them? How does the new structure of the business work practically?”

Eddie and Susie are now partners, but how will their relationship evolve as the story moves forward? “I think they’ve grown to love each other in their own way, but I think they’ll never fully trust each other because they are so different and they’re from such vastly different worlds,” James told Tudum. “There’s a love between them, but ultimately they will never be from the same cloth.”

‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2 Announcement

What happens in The Gentlemen Season 2?

It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound.  Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well …
