In Tex Mex Motors, a passionate team of car restorers have taken a leap of faith and set up an auto body shop near the US-Mexico border. Why? Well, it turns out the US is running low on affordable vintage cars that actually work. So the crew hunts for old, sought-after vehicles in nearby Mexico, then carts them to El Paso, Texas, where the shop’s radical restorations turn heaps of junk into chunks of change — or so they hope: These restorers have to net $250,000 in just four months to see if the business is viable enough to set down roots in El Paso.

In Tex Mex Motors, car scouts (and delightfully odd duo) Scooter and Rabbit travel along the US-Mexico border to find vintage cars that Mike and his team back in El Paso can resurrect into treasures. Mexico, as it turns out, is a goldmine of forgotten and undervalued classic cars. After Scooter and Rabbit haggle south of the border on everything from ancient Volkswagens to rusty Fords, the pair try their best to get the cars back in one piece to Mike at the shop. But will the crew sell enough flipped cars to make a big profit and set up shop for good? Only if they can sell $250,000 of refurbished wheels in just four months.
Scooter and Rabbit unearth a ’69 Opel, a ’65 Volkswagen Bug, a ’63 Chevy Carryall, a vintage Bronco and many more.
The series takes place in El Paso, with lots of stops in Juárez, Mexico.
