Scorpio Movies and Shows Worthy of the Zodiac’s Most Mysterious Sign

Plus, some titles led by Scorpio actors.

Mystery, passion, intensity, analysis, loyalty, intuition, danger — these are just some of the things Scorpios are known for. As the fixed water sign, those born between Oct. 23 and Nov. 21 are often considered the villains of the zodiac — sometimes unfairly so. Still, you’d be wise to never cross a Scorpio, as they have a penchant for revenge.

They’re also famously charismatic and fiercely independent, dabbling in the illicit and leaning toward risk. That’s exactly why Scorpio stories remain so compelling: We’re drawn to them because they’re alluring onscreen, whether they’re an expert gentleman thief, an enigmatic family, or a beguiling murderer.

Astrology fans can find even more recommendations inspired by all things Scorpio — and the 11 other star signs — in Netflix’s curated collection Your Zodiac Watchlist, a fresh way to explore all our titles through an astrological lens. The only mystery is which one you’ll watch first.

Movies and Shows Inspired by Scorpios

Lupin

A master of disguise, oozing charisma and set on avenging a family member’s death, Assane Diop is a Scorpio through and through. Omar Sy has played the gentleman thief, inspired by the legendary Arsène Lupin, for three parts and counting. With exciting action, clever aliases, and intriguing plot twists — plus a glamorous Paris backdrop — it’s no secret why the hit French series is one of the most popular non-English productions in Netflix’s history.

Scorpio Appeal: Vengeful, independent, deceptive

The Hunting Wives

Who knew a move from Massachusetts to Texas could be so steamy and seductive? That’s the discovery Sophie (Brittany Snow) makes when she relocates her family to the Lone Star State, befriends a socialite (Malin Akerman), and gets drawn into her riveting clique. Dermot Mulroney, Katie Lowes, Jaime Ray Newman, and Chrissy Metz are also in the cast of the hit series, based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb and already renewed for a second season.

Scorpio Appeal: Murderous, sexual, intense

The Haunting of Hill House

The filmmaker most adept at exploring the Scorpio aesthetic onscreen is Mike Flanagan, whose movies and shows expertly combine horror and heart in ways that will stay with you long after spooky season. Viewers new to the “Flanaverse” should start with The Haunting of Hill House, his most acclaimed work to date, and then meander through the rest of his oeuvre, including Midnight MassThe Haunting of Bly Manor, The Fall of the House of UsherThe Midnight Club and more.

Scorpio Appeal: Enigmatic, spiritual, dark

You

Is there any character on Netflix more charming, obsessive, and villainous than Joe Goldberg? Penn Badgley plays the fascinating serial killer with unwavering brilliance in this psychological thriller series, and he doesn’t let up for five seasons, as the story travels from New York to Los Angeles to London and back to New York again. (That makes sense: The actor is a Scorpio himself, born on Nov. 1.) The sprawling cast also includes Shay Mitchell, Victoria Pedretti, Jenna Ortega, Lukas Gage, and Anna Camp.

Scorpio Appeal: Villainy, secrets, obsession

The Thursday Murder Club

For those craving a cozier and more comedic Scorpio vibe, this murder mystery stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie as senior sleuths who live in a retirement home and gather to solve murders for fun — until they find themselves caught in a real case.  The delightful adaptation of the bestselling whodunit novel by Richard Osman is directed by Chris Columbus (The Christmas Chronicles 2).

Scorpio Appeal: Intuitive, strategic, investigative

The Adam Project

Ryan Reynolds (b. Oct. 23), Mark Ruffalo (b. Nov. 22)

It must be something in the universe — Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo, two of the actors in this sci-fi adventure, have birthdays that are on the cusp of Scorpio season. In the twisty family drama, Reynolds plays a time-traveling fighter pilot who accidentally crash-lands in 2022 and must team up with his 12-year-old self on a mission to save the future world. Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, Zoe Saldaña, and Walker Scobell round out the cast of the movie, directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things).

Leave the World Behind

Julia Roberts (b. Oct. 28), Ethan Hawke (Nov. 6)

In our modern, digital, and tech-reliant age, it is just downright spooky to go on what’s supposed to be a nice getaway, only to find that the vacation home’s TV and internet connection aren’t working, thanks to an inexplicable blackout. Even spookier: The property owner and his family suddenly arrive to stay with you. Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon star in the apocalyptic thriller, which is based on Rumaan Alam’s novel of the same name, and directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.

Love Is Blind

Nick Lachey (b. Nov. 9), Vanessa Lachey (b. Nov. 9)

One possible sign of long-term compatibility: sharing a birthday with your spouse. That’s the coincidence with Nick and Vanessa Lachey, who were born seven years apart and have been married since 2011. And as the co-hosts of Love Is Blind, they guide groups of singles through the social experiment (and moderate those juicy post-wedding reunions). Plus, the show itself is somewhat Scorpio-adjacent, since it arguably involves a bit of secrecy and strategy in order for contestants to end up successfully exchanging vows at the altar.
