Falling in love with a crown prince sounds like something straight out of a Taylor Swift song (or something Princess Diana might do), but for Lena (Ines Høysæter Asserson), this royal tale is about to become her reality. In the upcoming Norwegian film, the teenager transfers to a new school, hoping to start fresh from her scandal-ridden past. When she meets Prince Kalle (Mathias Storhøi), Lena is charmed but skeptical. Kalle’s party boy reputation is a fixture in the tabloids and gossip blogs — one of which was anonymously run by Lena herself — but it turns out that he’s not what the internet makes him out to be.

The pair get steamy in the trailer, but their budding relationship is far from a romantic fairy tale. A big secret from Lena’s past could jeopardize her relationship with the future king. Based on the first book in the acclaimed YA series of the same name by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen, Royalteen will officially take the throne on Aug. 17. Check out the trailer below.
