Dearest gentle reader, there is incredible news buzzing among the ton: the Bridgerton Queen Charlotte spinoff is officially headed your way.

Queen Charlotte’s origin story is officially getting started.
Centering around the iconic queen herself (portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel), this still-untitled project from Shonda Rhimes also features Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) from the original series. In this prequel, viewers will learn all about Queen Charlotte’s origin story, including her marriage to King George and the great love story — and societal shift — that follows.

The first glimpse of Young Queen Charlotte.
Joining the original Bridgerton cast are India Amarteifio (Line of Duty), Michelle Fairley (Gangs of London), Corey Mylchreest (Sandman), and Arsema Thomas. Amarteifio portrays Young Queen Charlotte, who learns to navigate palace life after finding herself betrothed to the King of England against her will, while Fairley takes on the role of Princess Augusta, a royal determined to do whatever it takes to maintain her family’s power. Mylchreest will play Young King George, described as “handsome, charismatic, and a bit of a mystery,” and Thomas will step into the character of the Young Lady Danbury, who becomes a guiding light for the new queen as she grows into the powerful woman we all know and love from the Bridgerton series.

Getting into character.
The cast also includes Sam Clemmett (The War Below) as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty) as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri (Cucumber) as Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton) as Older Brimsley.

The Bridgerton family continues to grow.
Rhimes will serve as showrunner, executive producer and writer, with Tom Verica as director and executive producer. Betsy Beers will also executive produce the limited series.
Lady Whistledown will surely be in touch soon with more details regarding Queen Charlotte’s origin story, but until then, Seasons 1 and 2 of Bridgerton are currently streaming for all of your royal romance needs.
