Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah’s (Adam Brody) romance will return soon: Nobody Wants This Season 3 debuts on Oct. 22. 

The new season will see the couple move in together — and enjoy all the “firsts” that come with a stable, fulfilling love. “After the ups and downs of Noah and Joanne in Season 2, it was really important to us to be like, ‘Let’s let them have their moment now of settling in and having fun,’” says co-showrunner and executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan. As his fellow co-showrunner and EP Jenni Konner says, “We didn’t have to do any more ‘Will they, won’t they?’ We know they are going to, and it was sort of, ‘How are they going to?’” 

Still, you should expect all the fun — and humor — that is signature to Joanne and Noah’s relationship. “We wanted to make sure that this couple is still fun and flirty with each other,” says creator and EP Erin Foster (who also has a cameo this season). “That’s the thing that makes them special and why they like each other so much.”

What is Nobody Wants This Season 3 about? 

Prepare to have that “first time” feeling, all over again. After recommitting to each other at the end of last season, Joanne and Noah are moving into a home — and a relationship — that finally feels solid, embracing every exciting "first" that comes with building their life together. 

Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) are thrust back into the dating world, whether they like it or not, stumbling through all the awkwardness (and unexpected thrill) of getting to know someone new, right as Morgan (Justine Lupe) takes her career to the next level, on her way to becoming an (almost) media sensation. Meanwhile, Sasha and Morgan have been circling something neither of them has been able to admit to.

Who is joining the cast of Nobody Wants This Season 3?

There’s a whole new group of fresh faces entering Noah and Joanne’s orbit this season. Andrew Rannells, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Sarah Silverman join the cast in major recurring roles, while Avan Jogia, Poorna Jagannathan, Sadie Sandler, Stephanie Koenig, and Steven Weber will also guest star. Even creator Erin Foster herself will make a cameo.

What happened in Nobody Wants This Season 2?

In the Season 2 finale, Joanne finally decides to convert to Judaism — just as Noah realized he wants to be with her no matter what she chooses. “Noah cannot be with Joanne unless she converts but doesn’t want her to do it for him. Joanne doesn’t want to change for a guy but wants to be with Noah,” Bell tells Tudum. “So there’s an incredible amount of friction.”

Ultimately, Esther helps Joanne realize that she’s Jewish. “She’s yearning for something to give her structure, purpose, boundaries, values, and traditions,” Foster explains. “Judaism can give her all of those things.” And while Noah is prepared to deal with the fallout if Joanne doesn’t convert, the point is now moot. 

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This held the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s English TV list for two weeks in a row upon its release with 18 million views in its first 11 days. It has reached the Top 10 in 82 countries, and it brought Season 1 back onto the list at No. 7. Season 1 has now reached the Top 10 in 89 countries and has spent eight weeks total there.
