‘Senior Year’ Sticks the Landing in This Week’s Top 10

Plus The Lincoln Lawyer rolls up as the most-viewed series.

    May 24, 2022

Oops!... Senior Year did it again. After premiering on May 13, the Rebel Wilson comedy is in the Global Top 10 for the second week as the most-streamed English-speaking film. With a total of 62.42 million hours viewed, the film follows high school cheer captain Stephanie (Wilson), who falls into a coma when a stunt goes terribly wrong. When she wakes up 20 years later in 2022, she’s determined to put on her best early-aughts fit and finish her senior year strong — as well as teach her Gen Z classmates some classic Britney dance moves along the way. “I wanted to make sure that the movie was celebrating Britney,” director Alex Hardcastle recently told Tudum. “[Britney] was so into us doing this. She gave us permission to re-create the video and to use her music.”

Another title that’s driving viewers crazy (in all the good ways) is the new legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer. As the top series, with 108.09 million hours viewed, this latest adaptation of Michael Connelly’s critically acclaimed 2005 novel explores more of the book’s smooth-talking lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo). In showrunner Ted Humphrey’s version, he dives deeper into Mickey’s Latinx heritage, just as the novel does. “There were opportunities for [the cast] to speak Spanish with one another and really, in as authentic a way as possible, honor the heritage of the character,” Humphrey shared with Tudum on the casting process.

Spanish drama Who Killed Sara? is also cracking into this week’s Global Top 10, with 46.89 million hours watched, making it the most-viewed non-English speaking series. For two seasons, Álex Guzman (Manolo Cardona) has been trying to trace down his sister’s murderer after being wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. In its third and final season, will he find the culprit and exact his revenge? To see what everyone else has been streaming, keep scrolling for more and view the full list here.
