Everyone’s stepping into the luxurious and unusual penitentiary of Spiderhead this week. After premiering last Friday, the genre-bending psychological thriller debuted as the second most-streamed English-speaking film with a total of 35.4 million hours viewed. If you’re used to seeing Chris Hemsworth as a superhero, his latest role as an egomaniac will leave you disturbed. Hemsworth plays the deranged Steve Abnesti, a prison warden who performs mind-altering experiments on inmates, which include Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett. “Chris was so game to play [in a way] that he hasn't been able to in the other roles he’s been doing,” Spiderhead and Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski tells Tudum. “[He was] so intrigued by the layers of this character and the challenge.” 

It’s not just Hemsworth’s cruel mind games drawing in viewers: The record-breaking K-drama Squid Game has also re-entered the Top 10 non-English TV list after Season 2 and a reality competition series got the green light last week, with Season 1 being watched a total of 7.48 million hours. “We are working on the script right now and making the form of the story,” executive producer Kim Ji-yeon tells Tudum. “But there’s definitely a lot of pressure on how to make [Season 2] even better. I know that a lot of the different fans and audiences have enjoyed the series very much, but really, we’re focusing on how to make it even more joyful to the global audience.” Squid Game presents a series of children's games where players compete to win a life-changing cash prize.
