Motherhood isn’t easy, every mom knows this. There are moments that are stressful, tiresome and flat-out hard. But there are also moments that are beautiful, hilarious and oh-so-special. We wanted to share the special moments featuring some of our favorite Netflix moms (and their kids) that show how rewarding motherhood can be.

The moment when… the title becomes official.

BridgertonMama has never sounded so sweet.

Some people wait years to hear their child say the word mom for the first time. But when you’re the matriarch of the Bridgerton family and you hear mama repeated over and over again by your children for the rest of your life, it somehow never gets old. In fact, it’s almost as if that’s when the title truly becomes official. 

The moment when… you finally understand your kid.

Never Have I Ever“I just want you to be happy.”

The saying goes “parents just don’t understand” but, sometimes, parents do understand. Just look at Never Have I Ever, specifically the scene where Fabiola comes out to her mom. Her tenderness, love and care for her daughter in this situation is so admirable and totally touching.

The moment when… you can finally impart your wisdom.

Stranger Things “You’re a fighter. You always have been. I honestly don’t know where you get it from.”

The pride that parents have for their children never dies, whether they get an A on a test or write an Earth-shattering story that threatens to reveal a town’s secrets. OK, maybe that second one is a bit of a stretch, but the pride and belief that Mrs. Wheeler has for Nancy are obvious in this clip from Stranger Things, where she imparts words of wisdom to her daughter in a moment of disappointment.  

The moment when… your teen finally needs their mommy.

You’re never too old to need your mommy. Not your mom, but your mommy (which are two very different things). Rory and Lorelai Gilmore’s bond in Gilmore Girls is particularly special. And although Rory exercises her independence throughout her teenage years, Rory’s dependence on her mom for emotional and physical support throughout the show is constant, like this instance where her stepmother is about to give birth to her half-sibling, and Lorelai is the only person around to console her.

The moment when… you become your child’s hero.

Moms are a source of inspiration to their kids while growing up — whether they serve as someone to emulate in their day-to-day or someone to offer words of wisdom when times are tough. In the three-part series jeen-yuhs, rapper Kanye West makes it apparent that his mom is a huge source of inspiration to him, so much so that he writes the song “Hey Mama,” where he screams so loud about how proud he is of her.

The moment when… you do everything you possibly can for your kid.

Maid“Most people would bet against a single mom putting herself through college. But they don’t know what it took to get here.”

The work that goes into raising a family is not something to be taken lightly. There are roller coasters to ride, mountains to climb and every accomplishment, however small, should be celebrated. Alex’s determination to build a better life for her daughter in Maid is shown in every action she takes. She cleans houses to put herself through college and does everything she possibly can for her daughter, Maddy. “Most people would bet against a single mom putting herself through college, but they don’t know what it took to get there,” Alex says in the clip.
