When Björn Diemel’s (Tom Schilling) wife signs him up for a mindfulness course, the workaholic defense attorney takes it to heart and uses his newly minted coping mechanisms to off anyone who disrupts his work-life balance. Now in Season 2 of Murder Mindfully, Björn has successfully climbed atop two warring gangs, managed to spend meaningful quality time with his family, and balanced his own emotional landscape — but he can’t quite seem to enjoy his success. Can his mindfulness coach help him tackle his newest challenge and help Björn soothe his inner child?

Written by Doron Wisotzky (Hagen), the German dark comedy series is based on a novel by Karsten Dusse. The show is directed by Martina Plura (Unsichtbarer Angreifer), Boris Kunz (Paradise), and Oscar nominee Max Zähle (Raju).

What happens in Murder Mindfully Season 1?

Björn Diemel (Schilling) is a hardworking defense attorney, spending his days and nights protecting Germany’s biggest scumbags. He’s paid handsomely and lives comfortably — when he’s not working, which is hardly ever. Björn’s just missed his daughter’s fourth birthday celebration, and his wife, Katharina (Cox), is upset. She recommends he sign up for a mindfulness course so he can figure out how to better prioritize time with his only daughter. And the classes go well … for a time. Soon enough, Björn’s toxic client — a mob boss named Dragan (Geršak) — ropes him into yet another dirty job. Dragan has unintentionally started a turf war with a competing cartel, by killing one of their drug mules. Björn, however, has had it with cleaning up Dragan’s messes. When he unintentionally commits murder, making him a huge target for the crime underworld, he uses his new meditative skills to go on a killing spree to keep his work-life balance intact.

Tom Schilling as Björn in ‘Murder Mindfully’ wears a navy three-piece suit and smugly looks into the camera while he sits on a chair with his hands interlocked.
