8 Movies and Shows About Space You Can Stream on Netflix - Netflix Tudum
So many people dream of going to outer space, but very few of us actually get to blast off and travel through the Milky Way. But you and your family can travel to space through these movies and series that show off different sides of the cosmos. Whether they’re traveling around the galaxy with a friendly alien, meeting an elusive moon goddess or battling evil space creatures, the characters in these Netflix movies and shows know a thing or two about being on (or from) another planet.
Over the Moon
Synopsis: Determined to prove that the mythic moon goddess Chang’e exists, and fueled by memories of her mother, Fei Fei builds a rocket to the moon and escapes on an adventure of epic proportions. While she’s there, she encounters the moon goddess, giant toads and an exiled moon creature named Gobi.
Blast off! Fei Fei does indeed go to space in this Academy Award-nominated film. With original songs and stunning visuals, it’s hard not to get transported to another planet while watching Over the Moon. This animated feature has a healthy dose of space exploration. There’s a made-up planet named Lunaria, mythical creatures and plenty of stars in the sky.
The Magic School Bus Rides Again Kids In Space
Synopsis: The Magic School Bus kids are on another adventure with the Frizz, and this time, they’re blasting off to the International Space Station. But once they’re in space, things go a little haywire when they find themselves on the run from a giant tardigrade.
Blast off! Like most episodes of Magic School Bus Rides Again, this special will be both an entertaining and educational experience for your little one. Kids in Space will teach the younger viewers about gravity, the International Space Station and the orbit of the planets. While you won’t find any talking aliens here, you will be able to take away a few fun facts to share with friends after watching.
Dogs in Space
Synopsis: When Earth is in danger in the not-so-distant future, scientists send a team of genetically enhanced dogs, led by a fearless Corgi named Garbage (Haley Joel Osment), to explore the galaxy in search of a planet for the people of Earth to call home.
Blast off! This super colorful animated series will take you back to the Saturday-morning cartoons of your childhood. Since the series takes place almost entirely in outer space, there are plenty of explorations and inventions to enjoy. Plus, when you throw in a few quirky talking dogs, fun (and chaos) will surely ensue. Dogs in Space is an inventive take on space exploration that will put a smile on your face.
A StoryBots Space Adventure
Synopsis: The StoryBots are back in a 12-minute special that will take young viewers out of this world, answering all of their questions about stars, rockets and planets in the process.
Blast Off! Whether your little one is just the tiniest bit inquisitive or they have some very big questions, A StoryBots Space Adventure attempts to answer them all. Let’s be real — answering kids’ questions can be a little hard, especially when covering a subject as big as space, so just let the StoryBots handle it.
Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus
Synopsis: Zim is an alien with plans for returning to planet Earth so he can conquer it. Dib is his human nemesis who plans on exposing him to the rest of the world. What could possibly go wrong in this fun space-themed adventure?
Blast off! Based on the early-2000s Nickelodeon cartoon, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus is a fun way of revisiting aliens and the galaxy through a very nostalgic and very chaotic character.
Pinkfong & Baby Shark's Space Adventure
Synopsis: Baby Shark is headed out of the waters and into outer space with Pinkfong, as they’re joined by new friends from other planets who help them explore their surroundings and collect missing star pieces to bring back home.
Blast off! Do-do-do-do-don’t worry, Pinkfong & Baby Shark’s Space Adventure still has plenty of songs, like “Baby Shark,” that will get stuck in your head, even if this adventure takes place out of this world rather than under the sea. Your littlest one will definitely be delighted to hear the music and see Baby Shark in a new setting.
