If F. Gary Gray, director of films like Friday, Set It Off, The Italian Job, Law Abiding Citizen and Straight Outta Compton, can be trusted with anything, it’s a high-octane heist flick. And it sounds like his forthcoming film, Lift, will appeal to fans of his thrillers and his certified hood classics.
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart stars alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki, The Morning Show, Belle), Vincent D’Onofrio (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Godfather of Harlem, The Unforgivable), Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist, Snake Eyes) and Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die, Game Night) in this action movie about an international heist crew recruited to prevent a terrorist attack mid-flight. So take one part Air Force One, a scoop of Ocean’s Eleven and a dash of every Kevin Hart movie ever. Mix thoroughly, and it sounds like you’ve got Lift.
The all-star cast is also joined by Paul Anderson (Nightmare Alley, Peaky Blinders), Viveik Kalra (Blinded by the Light, Three Months) and singer-actor Kim Yoon-ji (The Last Empress).
Lift is written by Daniel Kunka. Hart is one of the film’s producers through his company HartBeat Productions, which has a creative partnership with Netflix. So if this movie doesn’t include Kevin Hart making a wisecrack to a terrorist, I’ll eat my Dodgers hat.
