From his beginnings as a featured player on In Living Color and creator and star of The Jamie Foxx Show to multiple Academy Award–nominated performances (and one win as Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray), Jamie Foxx has proven over and over again that he has the range.

Need someone to bring the funny? He’s your man. Bad guys need beating up? Yes, hello. Emotional gut punch required? On it. All three at once? Look no further than Day Shift, his latest movie hitting Netflix Aug. 12. Foxx plays Bud Jablonski, an LA vampire hunter with cash flow problems who’s forced to bite off a little more than he can chew to pay off his debts.

When you’re done watching him tear up the screen with Snoop Dogg and Dave Franco, make sure to queue up some of his past projects listed below.

Day Shift

Every morning, Bud Jablonski (Foxx) heads out in his turquoise pickup truck to clean pools all around the San Fernando Valley — or so his family thinks. In reality, he’s lurking around some of the Valley’s darkest underground lairs. You see, Bud actually works as one of Los Angeles’ many vampire hunters. And with only a week to come up with enough cash to pay for his daughter’s braces and school tuition, his days are about to get a little more blood filled. Snoop Dogg, Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Karla Souza also star in this upcoming movie directed by J.J. Perry. The fangs come out Aug. 12.

Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!

Even the coolest actors can seem cringe to their kids. Inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with his daughter, Corinne, this sitcom (the actor’s first since The Jamie Foxx Show ended in 2001) follows the parenting trials of Brian Dixon (Foxx), an Atlanta cosmetics CEO who’s forced to be a single dad when his daughter moves in after the death of her mother. If you’re still craving more after the season is over, check out Dad Stop Embarrassing Me — The Afterparty, in which the cast discusses some of the show’s most memorable moments.

Project Power

Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, Project Power imagines a world in which superpowers come in pill form. The citizens of New Orleans are being flooded with a new drug — with just one “Power” pill, users can suddenly melt into the background like chameleons, develop bulletproof skin or even become human bombs. But there’s a catch, and with the help of teenage rapper Robin (Dominique Fishback) and NOPD detective Frank Shaver (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), former Delta Force Army major Art (Foxx) is determined to figure out the dark truth hiding behind these newfound abilities.

Due Date

What would you do to get home on time for the birth of your child? That’s the question that drives every crazy scheme in Due Date (and there are many). Soon-to-be father Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) and aspiring actor Ethan (Zach Galifianakis) reluctantly team up for a cross-country road trip after ending up on the no-fly list. Foxx’s appearance as Peter’s best friend, Darryl, is brief but memorable: Remember, never ever brew coffee without checking what’s in the tin.

The Players Club

Narrated by Diana “Diamond” Armstrong (LisaRaye McCoy), a single mother stripping nights in order to pay for her college tuition, The Players Club is best known as Ice Cube’s feature directorial debut. Jamie Foxx plays Blue, a nice guy DJ at the otherwise sleazy gentlemen’s club, who very sweetly sweeps Diamond off her feet. He joins an impressive ensemble that includes Bernie Mac, Terrence Howard and Monica Calhoun.
