In the latest chapter of the creature-feature franchise, Godzilla and Kong have buried the hatchet just in time to save the world. From director Adam Wingard (The Guest), the 2024 film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire follows the two beasts as they square off against a monstrous new adversary that threatens all humankind. Wingard — who co-wrote the film with Simon Barrett (The Guest) and Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) — also directed 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. What happens in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire?

When strange radio interference disrupts equipment at the Monarch observation station within the subterranean world of Hollow Earth, Dr. Ilene Andrews (Hall), her daughter Jia (Hottle), and scientist Mikael (Ferns) are stumped. While the rest of the Monarch researchers think it’s a fluke, Ilene turns to conspiracy theorist and podcaster Bernie Hayes (Henry) for help. Bernie confirms that the signal is actually some sort of distress call. But who’s sending it? Ilene and her team — including Jia, Bernie, and veterinarian Trapper (Stevens) — head deep into Hollow Earth to investigate. There, they discover a great evil that threatens the entire globe … but Godzilla and Kong are the only ones who can stop it.
