Finding Her Edge is officially back in production on location in Southern Ontario for Season 2. The ice dancing drama will return for another season following Adriana Russo’s spins, spirals, and twists, both on the rink and in romance. Lace up for more yearning and more competition, this time with an expanded cast.
“We’ve got a juicy Season 2 coming this year, and I think the fans are really going to enjoy the new storylines and new characters,” Madelyn Keys tells Tudum. “I am absolutely thrilled to be back.”

In Season 2, the Russo sisters trade their family rink for the cutthroat pressure of Voltage Academy, where every skate could make or break their National Team ambitions. As the pressure mounts on and off the ice, Adriana finds herself torn between her loyal boyfriend, Freddie (Olly Atkins), and Brayden (Cale Ambrozic), the former skating partner she never truly left behind.
“We set the bar pretty high with Season 1, and somehow Season 2 manages to raise it,” Ambrozic says. “Everything feels bigger, the stakes are higher, and there are definitely a few surprises I don’t think anyone will see coming.” Atkins adds, “Freddie’s story is just getting started, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the odyssey he takes alongside Adriana, Brayden, and the rest of the gang.”

Award-winning Canadian author and executive producer Norton (Geek Girl, Crew Girl) is back as showrunner for Season 2 alongside executive producer and head writer Shelley Scarrow (Wynonna Earp, Degrassi: The Next Generation). Writers Sabrina Sherif (The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Hardy Boys), Jeff Norton, and Jacqueline Pepall will also help tell the next chapter in the Russo sisters’ story.
“I set out to make a show about love, featuring characters navigating a particularly difficult path in their lives and in their sport. It’s a true gift to be able to work with such a talented cast to extend these characters’ journeys in Season 2, with the support of Netflix and WildBrain,” Norton previously said of the series renewal news. “I’m certain fans will be delighted as we delve deeper into the two love triangles that anchor our show — the romantic one and the familial one. There’s plenty of drama to come both on and off the ice.”
Season 2 also welcomes directors Paolo Barzman (Wynonna Earp, Sky Med), Melanie Orr (Mistletoe Murders, Hardy Boys), James Genn (Wild Cards, You’re Killing Me), and Jacqueline Pepall (Horrible Histories, Goldie’s Oldies), who returns after directing Season 1. Finding Her Edge is produced by WildBrain, a global leader in kids’ and family entertainment. Executive Producers for WildBrain include Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, and Angela Boudreault.

Finding Her Edge Season 1, which launched on Netflix Jan. 22, follows Adriana Russo, heir to a struggling ice dancing dynasty, as she trains for the World Championships. She has a new partner, Brayden Elliot, but still harbors feelings for her first love and former partner, Freddie O’Connell. The season debuted at No. 4 in the Netflix Global Top 10, and reached the Top 10 in 81 countries.
Yes, the series is based on the bestselling YA novel of the same name by Jennifer Iacopelli. “I am over the moon at the reception Finding Her Edge has received by viewers all over the world,” the author previously told Tudum. “To see my book come to life and watch the world fall in love with my characters has been a dream come true, and now that dream gets to continue with a Season 2! I can’t wait for audiences to see what’s in store for Adriana, Brayden, Freddie, and the rest of Team Russo!”
In the lead-up to the series premiere, the book’s paperback edition, featuring a “Coming to Netflix” cover sticker, hit bookshelves, ushering in a major spike in excitement around the source material. “Originally published as a hardcover in 2022, Jennifer Iacopelli’s Finding Her Edge paperback, with a Netflix burst, released in December 2025 and has sold 500% more copies in just eight weeks compared to the hardcover,” says Jen Klonsky, president and publisher of Putnam Books for Young Readers. The audiobook also saw a 990% increase in global listens, and a 1300% surge in global searches on Spotify following the series premiere.
According to Alice Sutherland-Hawes, Iacopelli’s agent at ASH Literary, the Netflix adaptation also increased the global attention the book received. “Before the announcement [of the Netflix series], we had a US and a German publisher. Within a matter of weeks after the announcement, we had a UK publisher and 13 further translation deals in place,” she says. “On top of that, the author’s catalog has gained renewed international interest, garnering translation sales across her forthcoming titles and backlist.”
