Buckle up — the Extraction universe just got new players, and they’re bringing plenty of heat.

Sacha Dhawan (The Great, Doctor Who), Ross McCall (Silo, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning), Pip Torrens (The Crown, Succession), and Sam Woolf (We Were the Lucky Ones, Neuromancer) are among the 11 new cast members suiting up in the next chapter of the action juggernaut — a heart-racing, eight-episode installment set in the same world as the hit films.

Additional newcomers include Michael Zananiri (Once Upon a Time in Gaza, An Orange from Jaffa), Riyad Sliman (Ramy, Palestine 36), Muhannad Ben Amor (Andor, Believe Me), Aaron Heffernan (Brassic, Femme), Jojo Macari (Those About to Die, Sex Education), Theo Ogundipe (Mickey 17, Top Boy)and Emma Appleton (Everything I Know About Love, The Witcher)

They join an already stacked lineup of previously announced cast, including Omar Sy (Lupin, The Intouchables), Natalie Dormer (The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones), Ed Speleers (Star Trek: PicardYou), Boyd Holbrook (A Complete Unknown, Narcos), May Calamawy (Moon Knight, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy), and Waleed Zuaiter (Gangs of London, Baghdad Central).

The series will be helmed by showrunner, writer, and executive producer Glen Mazzara (The Shield, The Walking Dead) and is executive produced by AGBO.

The high-octane Extraction films — based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo — depict perilous search-and-rescue missions around the globe. The new action-thriller series follows a mercenary (played by Sy), who’s trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers as he navigates a dangerous mission to save hostages in Libya.

The series delves into the emotional struggles of conflicted and flawed characters, each facing trauma, betrayal, and life-or-death choices. As for the rest of the cast, their characters are still under wraps. Whether they’re allies to Sy’s character, adversaries, or somewhere in between, you can bet the actors will bring a fresh dose of danger to the franchise’s next mission.

Glen Mazzara (The ShieldThe Walking Dead) will serve as writer and showrunner. Sam Hargrave, who directed the Chris Hemsworth–led film Extraction and its sequel, Extraction 2, will executive produce. Additional executive producers include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and Chris Castaldi for AGBO.

“I’m a very lucky man,” Mazzara tells Netflix. “Omar is a huge talent. Joe, Anthony, and Angela have welcomed me into the AGBO family. The team at Netflix is truly the best I’ve ever worked with. Very lucky indeed.”

“AGBO is grateful to collaborate once again with our partners at Netflix, this time to expand the Extraction universe into a new medium,” says Russo-Otstot. “We were inspired to tell more stories in this global franchise, further exploring heroic yet flawed mercenaries who illuminate universal themes. Glen Mazzara truly excels at sophisticated and nuanced explorations in the genre series space, and we are thrilled to have the exceptional talents of Omar Sy at the center of our action-packed, multi-narrative mission.”

The series marks another team-up between Netflix and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, which launched their partnership with Extraction in 2020, and followed up with the sequel Extraction 2 in 2023. Additional titles include The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas, in 2022, and 2025’s The Electric State, an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt.
