As the saying goes, “The sky’s the limit,” but when you’re Kid Cudi, you’re reaching for the stars. The artist, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, is taking the idea of a visual album to new heights with his upcoming animated television event Entergalactic. The show will be accompanied by Mescudi’s tenth studio album of the same name.
The trailer paints New York City like you’ve never seen it before, portraying art, music and fashion through immersive animation. Mescudi lends his voice as Jabari, an aspiring musician who meets Meadow (Jessica Williams), a photographer who also happens to be his neighbor. Jabari is still trying to get over his ex, but Meadow shows him that it’s possible to fall back in love and balance success.
Joining Mescudi and Williams is a star-studded cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, Laura Harrier, Ty Dolla $ign, Christopher Abbott, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro and Macaulay Culkin. Mescudi also teamed up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, who serves as executive producer of the series.
Entergalactic and its soundtrack both start streaming on Sept. 30.
