The video game Cyberpunk 2077 is deeply influenced by classic anime; the game even includes Akira’s iconic motorbike as a drivable vehicle. So it’s fitting that the new game-inspired series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime story of its own, with a gorgeously animated city just waiting to be explored. Back in June, the teaser for the show took Netflix’s Geeked Week by storm, but there’s so much more to see. You can check out a new Edgerunners trailer right now.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will introduce a new protagonist, a street kid making his way through a fraught urban environment plagued by techno warfare and body modification. In order to survive, he joins a crew of mercenaries — the edgerunners, otherwise known as cyberpunks. The first teaser gave us a brief, tantalizing glimpse at the show’s neon-drenched setting and just a bit of its high-octane action, including what looks like a very Matrix Reloaded bike chase.

The full story trailer is even more intense, and with good reason: It was edited by Studio Trigger themselves, the studio behind Little Witch Academia, Promare and Kill la Kill. Trigger co-produced the new series alongside CD Projekt Red, the developer of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, and the new trailer has all the visceral energy and emotion that fans have come to expect from the company.
Also announced, alongside the trailer, was the series’ all-star Japanese cast, including KENN, Aoi Yuuki, Hiroki Tochi, Michiko Kaiden, Takako Honda, Wataru Takagi, Tomoyo Kurosawa, Kazuhiko Inoue, Yurika Hino and Kenjiro Tsuda. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners hits Netflix this September.
