Ana de Armas is pretty in pink, Tessa Thompson is a vision in black and Brad Pitt is looking chic in his sneakers on the red carpet for the world premiere of Blonde at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 8.
Blonde is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ fictional novel of the same name published in 2000. The Netflix film reimagines the life of Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe, exploring the distinctions between her public and private personas. Julianne Nicholson, who plays Norma Jean’s mother, Gladys, spoke about taking on such a complex character and story.
"Making this movie was a very special experience for me,” Nicholson told the audience at a press conference for the film earlier in the festival. “The challenging roles are the exciting roles.”

"If you put aside the movie star that she was, she’s just a woman just like me,” added Ana de Armas, who stars as Marilyn Monroe in the film. “I feel like all of us feel so much respect and responsibility to do good to her [Marilyn] and to honor her. Not just the cast and Andrew, of course, but the entire crew — I felt like everyone knew that we were doing something in her service. Something bigger than us, something more special than just a film about her.”
See the cast and crew take some time out of character to enjoy the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival and watch Blonde when it comes to Netflix on Sep. 28.
