The Sandlerverse is expanding and adding a new entry into its illustrious canon. Fresh off his inspirational sports movie, Hustle, Adam Sandler will star in and produce a film adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 YA novel, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!
Directed by Sammi Cohen and written by Alison Peck (who also penned your favorite Sabrina Carpenter dance comedy Work It), the movie will follow “a young girl’s bat mitzvah plans comedically unravel and threaten to ruin one of the most important events of her young life.” The film will star Idina Menzel, Sarah Sherman, Sunny Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Luis Guzmán, Ido Mosseri, Samantha Lorraine, Dylan Hoffman, Dean Scott Vazquez, Miya Cech, Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash, Millie Thorpe, Zaara Kuttemperoor, Judd Goodstein, Kasey Bella Suarez with Jackie Sandler and Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy are producing for Happy Madison; Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton are producing for Alloy Entertainment.

It seems only fitting that the mind behind “The Hanukkah Song,” Eight Crazy Nights and “Bar Mitzvah Boy” would now turn his attention toward a momentous milestone for young Jewish women. Plus, Sandler has some recent bat mitzvah experience, having just thrown one for his own 13-year-old daughter back in May. On the guest list? Jennifer Aniston, Charlie Puth, Taylor Lautner and Halsey, who gave Sandler’s party-planning skills a ringing endorsement. “It was the craziest bat mitzvah I’ve ever seen in my life,” the singer told Jimmy Fallon, adding, “It was like Coachella.”
That’s a hard act to follow, but knowing Sandler, we’ve got faith. Production begins this summer, so start prepping that hora footwork.
