5 Cutest ‘Wild Babies’ from the Nature Docuseries

Being this adorable is really hard work.

Nature docuseries transport us across deserts, center us in grassy fields and take us on deep dives into oceans. However, Wild Babies offers something even more exquisite. There are fewer things cuter than baby animals navigating the earliest days of their lives.

Little ones begin to learn their place in the world from birth. Guided by their parents, siblings and other family members, they learn not simply how to survive, but to thrive in a world that can sometimes be overwhelming.

Narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, Wild Babies consists of eight parts. The series follows 16 baby animals who all get in a bit over their heads at times but, in the end, trust their instincts as they move through babyhood into adulthood.

Though there are many animals to meet, including lion cubs, a seal pup, a penguin chick and even a sea turtle hatchling, there are five particularly photogenic little guys in Wild Babies. They stole our hearts from the very first glance.

Mina from ‘Wild Babies’ Mina, a baby orangutan

Mina

In “On the Move,” we meet baby orangutan Mina. Tantalized by the lush forests of Indonesia, Mina’s constant movements and squirming signify her desire for freedom and the ability to explore on her own. The little one refuses to sit still, wriggling out of her overprotective mother’s arms and even having a minor accident that spills onto her mom’s orange fur as she reaches out to grasp onto a tree.

Chico from ‘Wild Babies’ Chico, a one-week-old capuchin monkey

Chico

A 1-week-old capuchin monkey covered in black-and-white fur and sporting colossal doe eyes, Chico is the most precious little thing. He spends his first weeks pampered by his mother in the Costa Rican forests, getting his fur cleaned and clinging to her back. However, by his third month, Chico will have to learn to venture out on his own even though his petite size doesn’t give him much of a leg up in his family.

Silver from 'Wild Babies'Silver, a six-week-old arctic fox

Silver

In Iceland, 6-week-old Silver moves through the flower-filled terrain as if she’s walking through a fairytale. The arctic fox is trying to sort out her surroundings. Unfortunately, Silver must contend with her boisterous brothers, who frequently get in her way with their antics. Though she often tries to step away for some self-care, her brothers aren’t keen to let her have any peace.

Pico from 'Wild Babies'Pico, a baby penguin

Pico

In Antarctica, Pico is finally living his best life. After being sheltered by his parents in the first few months of life, he’s more than doubled his original size. Pico now has a coat full of feathers to keep him warm without huddling on his mom or dad’s warm feet. Though he’s apprehensive at first, Pico’s ready to take his first step into becoming an independent penguin.

Spruce from 'Wild Babies'Spruce, a one-year-old grizzly bear

Spruce

In the rich wilderness of Canada, Spruce isn’t yet the mighty grizzly that he’ll become. At 1 year old and fresh out of hibernation, he’s supposed to be learning how to fend for himself. However, after a protein-filled grass snack, Spruce finds a comfy spot for a lovely afternoon nap — not even a bout of hiccups can disrupt his slumber.
