Nodame Cantabile

Megumi Noda, or Nodame, is an eccentric college piano student who plays by instinct. In stark contrast to her, Chiaki is an obscure but elite pianist.　

World-famous conductor Stresemann forms the S orchestra with failing students. Chiaki’s transfer flounders. Ryutaro asks Nodame to play the violin.

Stresemann is out cold and Chiaki steps in as conductor for S Orchestra. Although excited at the opportunity, rehearsal was so bad that Chiaki quits.

Chiaki’s S Orchestra and Stresemann’s A Orchestra compete. Chiaki and Ryutaro fight during practice. Nodame introduces a kotatsu to Chiaki’s room.

Nodame and friends are excited about the school festival. Chiaki is sad Stresemann was deported back to Germany, but he suddenly appears with music.

Shocked by Chiaki’s piano talent, Nodame practices madly. The S Orchestra musicians look for jobs. A music critic tells Chiaki about studying abroad.

Nodame runs from new teacher Etoh, who yells while waving his paper fan. Chiaki worries about Nodame but is busy with Kiyora and his new orchestra.

Chiaki follows Stresemann’s advice and immerses himself in music. After Nodame finishes her song “Fart Exercises,” Etoh urges her to enter a piano contest.

Chiaki overcomes his airplane phobia with Nodame’s hypnosis. Hoping to study abroad using competition prize money, Nodame trains at Etoh’s house.

Nodame flubs the first piece, but makes it to finals with her dazzling second performance. Chiaki cannot bring himself to talk about studying abroad.
