Meet the Hecks — Frankie, Mike, Axl, Sue and Brick. An average, perfectly normal suburban family that has never let their quirks keep them down.

Library fines, bills due and new glasses to buy. Money is tight everywhere Frankie looks, so she resorts to a publicity stunt to sell her first car.

Endless mishaps that demand Frankie's attention — including a diaper-wearing dog and Axl crashing the car — derail Mike's romantic weekend plans.

Frankie fights for Sue to qualify for a field trip to Indianapolis. Meanwhile, the Heck men work together to get Brick out of a demanding relationship.

Mike signs Brick up for basketball, Sue tries out for tennis and Axl gets a new football uniform. But sports may not be a Heck strong suit.

Axl destroys the front door, but the real trouble starts the moment anyone — or anything — can walk in. Sue stresses over her picture day portrait.

A misunderstanding at school lands Brick, and potentially Frankie, in trouble. Meanwhile, Bob helps Mr. Ehlert shoot a new commercial for the car lot.

Frankie must work on Thanksgiving, and it ruins her plans for a perfect family holiday. Mike cooks dinner instead, and Axl loses Brick in a corn maze.

Seeing a happy family inspires Frankie to push her own kids to get along — especially after she catches them watching the same TV show in separate rooms.

Mike manages the Hecks' Christmas plans while Frankie is busy with a choir solo. Meanwhile, Brick's newfound holiday blues affect the whole family.
