Unsure if Wei Wuxian is alive, a vengeful Mo Xuanyu summons his spirit with a spell. Later, Wuxian encounters members of the Lan Clan at Mo's Manor.

Wuxian clashes with Jin Ling and discovers a secret about him. Wuxian finds help from Lan Zhan while escaping from Jiang Cheng.

Jin Zixuan kicks Wuxian and his company out. Wuxian gets punished for breaking the Lan Clan's rules. Wen Ruohan sends Wen Qing out on a mission.

The Lan Clan suspect that the spirit-taking incidents are linked to the Wen Clan. Wuxian surmises there must be a secret in the hills at the back.

Wuxian's prank in a library annoys Lan Zhan. Wuxian, Jiang Cheng and Wen Qing join the Lan brothers to search for water ghosts.

Wuxian and Lan Zhan get punished for drinking alcohol. They come across Lan Yi in the Cold Spring Cave and learn about the Yin Iron.

Wen Chao pressures Lan Huan to turn in the Yin Iron. In the Dafan Mountain, Wuxian, Lan Zhan and Nie Huaisang are lured into a trap and under attack.

With Wen Qing's help, Wuxian and the group help a village get back to normal and visit Yueyang. Lan Zhan harbors suspicions about Wen Qing.

Xiao Xingchen teams up with Song Lan to catch Xue Yang. Disciples from all main clans are chosen for an indoctrination. Nie Mingjue is injured.
