While fighting in the war, Eduardo sends his sister Adelina a letter from the front, prompting her to relive their troubled childhood.

In the 1930s, a young Adelina discovers the world of vaudeville — and her father's true identity. Just as she feels alone, she runs into an old friend.

As young Adelina dreams of performing in Julio's theater, she soon lands in trouble with his wife Carmela — but Eduardo comes to her aid.

Adelina and Teresita slowly form a bond when Julio teaches them how to tap dance. The death of a rebel at the hands of American troops horrifies Eduardo.

After a fire razes his theater to the ground, Julio desperately seeks help to rebuild it. Later, Hiroshi gives the family a well-meaning gift.

The family discovers that Julio has suddenly abandoned them. Devastated by his departure, the sisters find comfort in Eduardo and Hiroshi.

After Hiroshi leaves for Japan, the sisters vow to rebuild the theater. Years later, they chase their dreams of performing on stage as war approaches.

Adelina and Teresita work on their theater routine behind Carmela's back, but can they get away with it? Eduardo hesitates to show his true feelings.

Despite Carmela's threats, the sisters head to an audition to perform their surprising new act. Meanwhile, Chikara receives an unusual guest.

Carmela plans to arrange a match for Teresita and sell Julio's theater against the sisters' wishes. Eduardo defends Adelina, only to end up in a bind.
