Pitcher Eijun Sawamura loses his final middle school baseball game. He plans on going to high school with his teammates and make it to the nationals.

Sawamura teams up with star catcher Kazuya Miyuki to take on a third-year batter. Miyuki encourages Sawamura to show everyone what he can really do.

Sawamura feels surprisingly at home rooming with his older teammates. But everything changes in an instant when he oversleeps before practice.

Seido’s ace, Tanba, struggles as the team faces a tough rival. Back at school, Sawamura gets to know another first-year pitcher during practice.

Sawamura worries about his chances of playing in the upcoming game between first-year students and the combined second-year and third-year team.

As the game continues, Sawamura finally makes it to a base. From the batter's box, Haruichi Kominato vows to give his all to help his team.

Furuya and Sawamura are assigned additional pitcher training. Furuya is paired with Miyuki, while Sawamura is partnered with a catcher named Chris.

After comparing Furuya and Sawamura, Chris proclaims that Sawamura will never be an ace and assigns him a long list of difficult training tasks.

Determined to learn baseball from Chris, Sawamura persistently follows him everywhere. Chris asks Sawamura to consider his own strengths as a pitcher.

Sawamura works to hone his unique skills and show as much improvement as possible before Chris graduates. Later, Sawamura asks Chris for a favor.
