Bussaba and the Ordeal of Fire

Hoon seeks to apprentice under a master painter but is shunned by the other pupils. Lamjuan confesses to a monk that she yearns for the freedom to learn.

Two master painters come to adorn the temple. While Nuan draws the interest of a visiting nobleman, Hoon is injured in a jealous dispute over Lamjuan.

Lamjuan reunites with Lady Poom, who attracts a noble official with her grace. At the Wat Prayur festival, a fireworks mishap threatens several lives.

Dr. Bradley performs surgery on an injured monk following a cannon explosion, and Hoon takes notice when Lamjuan visits the patient at the apothecary.

When a chance encounter brings Lamjuan and Hoon back together, they promise to reunite during the holidays, but Minister Intra wants her for himself.

Crushed by heartbreak, Hoon struggles to focus on his art, so Kongpae takes him for a night out together. Elsewhere, Lamjuan faces accusations of theft.

Determined to escape Minister Intra's control, Lamjuan contacts Hoon for help — but when their scheme collapses, she takes her chances in the river.

A furious Minister Intra starts searching for Lamjuan after she disappears into the river — with his suspicions soon falling on the distraught Hoon.

Lost in his own sadness, Hoon isolates himself and refuses to paint. As news of Lamjuan's death begins to spread, Lady Poom helps disguise her as a man.
