Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto learns of a death row convict who buried treasure and left clues on his fellow inmates’ bodies.

Sugimoto and Asirpa catch a prisoner just outside the city of Otaru. The prisoner tells them that the man who carved his tattoos was called Nopperabo.

Soldiers from the 7th Division pursue Sugimoto and Asirpa in the woods. Unable to outrun them, Sugimoto devises a plan to keep Asirpa safe from harm.

Asirpa’s uncle talks to Sugimoto about the buried treasure and his niece’s past. Afterward, Sugimoto decides to leave the Ainu village in secret.

Sugimoto defends himself against the Nikaido twins’ attack. Asirpa agrees to give Shiraishi a share of the treasure if he helps Sugimoto escape.

Renowned hunter Tetsuzo Nihei joins Tanigaki in pursuing Retar, the last Ezo wolf in Hokkaido. Sugimoto and Asirpa track down the wounded deer.

Tanigaki takes Asirpa hostage to force Sugimoto and Shiraishi to drop their weapons. Nihei continues the hunt by using Asirpa to lure Retar.

Shiraishi successfully escapes from a persistent Ushiyama as successive explosions occur in the city. Hijikata utilizes the chaos to rob a bank.

Henmi and Sugimoto hide in a mansion after they spot 7th Division soldiers. But a battle soon breaks out when they find Tsurumi and his men inside.

Tanigaki flees from the 7th Division’s Ogata and Nikaido in the woods. He hatches a plan to use a deer corpse to turn the tables on his pursuers.
