The four girls participate in an intense four-day training camp. When the expedition commander, Gin, introduces herself, Shirase reacts strangely.

Before departing for their three-month stay in Antarctica, Kimari packs her bags and says her goodbyes. Meanwhile, Megu seems a little distant.

During a layover in Singapore, panic sets in for the group when Hinata realizes her passport is missing just hours before their flight to Australia.

The expedition members prepare for departure. Kanae tells the girls that moving forward, they'll be treated as adults.

The relentless schedule and seasickness start to wear the girls down. But then they see the vast, new world around them.

Crew member Toshio tells the girls he has a crush on Gin and asks for advice, which they think is just the thing to make their reports more interesting.

The expedition members get dropped off at Syowa Station, where the real work begins.
