The Prince of Tennis

Sasabe swings his tennis racket around while riding the train with his high school mates. A boy calls him out on his knowledge of tennis.

Sumire, the tennis club advisor at Seishun Academy, is given a magazine. Ryoma is approached by Horio, while Sakuno decides to join the tennis club.

During morning practice, the first-years talk about the ranking within the school. Ryoma acts as if his match with Momoshiro never happened.

Horio and the others are excited about Ryoma playing in the school ranking tournament, but he will be up against Kaido, also known as the Viper.

Ryoma switches to his dominant hand and returns Kaido's Snake Shot. But Kaido's real plan is to make Ryoma use up all his energy.

Tennis journalists Inoue and Shiba pay a visit to the legendary Nanjiro Echizen. To kill time, Nanjiro challenges Inoue to a game.

The regulars continue to shine in the school ranking tournament with intriguing matchups like Tezuka against Oishi. Ryoma faces Inui in his grouping.

Ryoma calls out where his shots will go to Inui, who is able to return them. But Ryoma shows off his new step and returns Inui's shots faster.

The ranking tournament ends with Ryoma winning a spot with the regulars and ordering his jersey. The tennis club then begins to practice in earnest.

Ryoma goes to some private courts to play. A selfish customer insults the Seigaku team and bosses around Kachiro's father, who is an instructor there.
