When the Vallejos' patriarch dies, Sebastián returns to Colombia to be with family and meets Gaviota, a worker for whom his father had great affection.

The family gathers to hear the will. While Iván plots to keep his hands on the reins of the family business, Sebastián and Gaviota spend time together.

Sebastián, whose life is in New York, and Gaviota, who can't fathom being away from Colombia, try to imagine a life together. Iván and Lucrecia marry.

Julia de Vallejos, the matriarch, recalls conversations with her husband and his concerns around how Iván was running the family business.

Carlos Mario tries to puppeteer things in Iván's favor while the Vallejo heirs face a crucial decision. Iván ignores Gaviota and Carmenza's claims.

When Marcela's boyfriend, Lemarcus, unexpectedly visits, both Iván and his mother are disdainful. Iván asks Paula to find a way to split them up.

Julia confronts Lemarcus. Lucrecia has Lucía come to Colombia to help her with the wedding. Gaviota and Carmenza learn how difficult the law can be.

Lucía pressures Sebastían. Bernardo has a hostile reaction to a romantic possibility. And Sebastián and Iván keep bumping heads over the business.

Gaviota tries to negotiate with Iván. In the process, Julia witnesses Iván's violence and reconsiders at least part of Gaviota and Carmenza's claims.

Lucía plots to get back with Sebastián and asks Lucrecia and Iván for help. Julia supports the cause by inviting them to Sebastián's birthday party.
