Slam Dunk

Towering, unlucky-in-love high school slacker Hanamichi meets his dream girl Haruko, who gets him into basketball and teaches him how to dunk.

Hanamichi butts heads with Rukawa out of jealousy, but Haruko sees them and pushes Hanamichi away. Frustrated, he quarrels with team captain Akagi.

As he tries to score one point before Gori gets 10 buckets, Hanamichi sees Haruko in the stands. Mistakenly thinking she's there for him, he perks up.

When Hanamichi tries to win him over with gifts and favors, Akagi shows no sign of letting him join the team.

Relegated to practice dribbling alone in a corner, Hanamichi gets fed up and quits.

Shohoku High will soon scrimmage prefectural powerhouse Ryonan. To prepare, coach Anzai has the first-years play against the upperclassmen.

The first-years vs. upperclassmen scrimmage heats up. As Rukawa puts pressure on his seniors with his game, Hanamichi's jealousy boils over.

Eyeing Hanamichi's incredible physical ability, judo team captain Aota plots to pry him from basketball. Kogure and Akagi worry about losing him.

When Hanamichi flatly rejects his proposal, Aota decides he won't give up without a fight — literally.

Now that Hanamichi is serious about basketball, Akagi wants him to practice shooting layups, but all Hanamichi wants to do is dunk.
