Paul Giamatti
Paul GiamattiThe son of late Yale University president and Major League baseball commissioner Bartlett Giamatti, Paul was born June 6, 1967, in New York City. He was a Yale drama major and graduated with a master's degree in fine arts.

After regional theater work, he made his film debut in Singles (1992). Giamatti became a familiar supporting character in movies, starting with 1997's Private Parts, Donnie Brasco and My Best Friend's Wedding. His roles continued to grow in stature in Saving Private Ryan, Man on the Moon and The Truman Show.

Giamatti's breakthrough leading role as artist Harvey Pekar in 2003's American Splendor earned him critical praise and acting awards. He followed up the accolades with an even bigger critical smash as depressed writer Miles Raymond in 2004's Sideways. An Oscar nominee followed for his supporting role in Cinderalla Man as well as his first Emmy and first Golden Globe wins for his role as John Adams in the eponymous miniseries.
