Tom Snyder
Tom SnyderA late-night talk-show host known for his controversial guests, unorthodox interviewing style and zesty laugh, Tom Snyder was born in Milwaukee May 12, 1936. He got his start in local radio before moving behind the anchor desks at television stations in Philadelphia, New York City and Los Angeles.

But it was Snyder's 1973-82 stint as host of NBC's "The Tomorrow Show" -- and later spin as host of CBS's "The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder" -- that endeared him to a national audience. The programs also earned him the dubious honor of being endlessly parodied by Dan Aykroyd on "Saturday Night Live."

During the course of Snyder's career, he jousted with a long lineup of memorable guests, including John Lennon, Charles Manson, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Elton John, Gloria Steinem and all four original members of Kiss. Snyder lost his two-year battle with leukemia on July 29, 2007.
