One of four children in a working-class family, Sharon Stone was born March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pa. With her high IQ, Stone found herself entering college at age 15. She became a successful model after winning the Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest in the late 1970s.A series of small parts on television led to her first film role as the memorable beautiful girl on the train in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories (1980). Stone got her first big break playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's deceptive wife in Total Recall (1990), but it was her role as the deadly seductress in Basic Instinct (1992) that made her a star.
Forgettable roles in Sliver, The Specialist and The Quick and the Dead paved the way for her portrayal as Robert De Niro's drug-crazy wife in 1995's Casino (directed by Martin Scorsese), which earned Stone her first Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
