A member of the 1990s "Mickey Mouse Club" cast that included future pop sensations Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling began his performing career as a singer. Born Nov. 12, 1980, in Ontario, Gosling was raised in a strict Mormon household and got his stage chops performing in talent shows with his sister.On the heels of "The Mickey Mouse Club" came more TV work, and by 1998, the young actor had earned teen pinup status with his casting as the title character in "Young Hercules." Big-screen roles soon followed, including his debut as a member of the football squad in Remember the Titans and critically acclaimed performances in The Believer (2001) and The Notebook.
Gosling has worked steadily in film since, but it was his Oscar-nominated performance in 2006's Half Nelson that cemented his reputation as one of his generation's finest actors.
