Robert Carlyle
Robert CarlyleBorn in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 14, 1961, Robert Carlyle studied at the Glasgow Arts Centre and the Royal Scottish Academy of Drama before co-founding the Raindog Theatre in 1991. He received acclaim for his performance in Ken Loach's 1990 comedy Riff-Raff and for his leading role as police constable Hamish Macbeth in the eponymous BBC series.

Known for playing both sensitive working-class blokes and vicious psychotics, Carlyle gained greater recognition for his starring roles as a knife-wielding sociopath in Trainspotting and as a laid-off factory worker who persuades his friends to put on a male strip show in the Oscar-nominated sleeper hit The Full Monty.

Other notable films include Priest, Carla's Song, The World Is Not Enough, Angela's Ashes and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands. In 2005, Carlyle earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the miniseries "Human Trafficking."
