The son of educators, Peter Krause was born Aug. 12, 1965, in Alexandria, Minn. He made his first TV appearance as part of the ensemble cast of the Carol Burnett vehicle "Carol & Company" before landing a role on the sitcom "Cybill" (playing series star Cybill Shepherd's son-in-law).Critics cooed over Krause's subsequent portrayal of a divorced reporter on the short-lived comedy "Sports Night" but liked him even more on the acclaimed HBO drama "Six Feet Under." Playing a son who returns home to work in his family's funeral parlor, Krause earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his efforts on the series.
Buoyed by the success of "Six Feet Under," Krause made his Broadway debut in a 2004 revival of playwright Arthur Miller's "After the Fall." Krause's noteworthy big-screen work includes The Truman Show (1998) and the indie flick We Don't Live Here Anymore (2004).
