Marion Cotillard
Marion CotillardBorn Sept. 30, 1975, and reared in Orléans, France, by parents who belonged to a traveling troupe of actors, Marion Cotillard knew at an early age that she would embrace her mother and father's profession.

After leaving home at 16 to pursue an acting career in Paris, Cotillard appeared in the box-office hit Taxi (1998) and the sequels Taxi 2 (2000) and Taxi 3 (2003). She won France's equivalent of an Academy Award for her portrayal of a femme fatale in A Very Long Engagement (2004).

But it was Cotillard's remarkable embodiment of French songbird Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (2007) that earned the actress worldwide acclaim and myriad honors and awards, including her first Oscar and Golden Globe wins. Cotillard's résumé also includes the English-language films Big Fish (2003) and A Good Year (2006). In 2009, she was nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her turn in the musical Nine.
