Len Cariou
A Canadian actor whose stage and screen successes earned him a spot in the American Theatre Hall of Fame, Len Cariou was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Sept. 30, 1939. He launched his career at the Manitoba Theatre Centre and, in 1968, made his Broadway debut in a production of "The House of Atreus."

Cariou scored his first Tony nomination with a 1970 musical adaptation of the classic film All About Eve, picking up a second nod three years later with composer Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music" (and reprising the role for a movie version co-starring Elizabeth Taylor). Cariou eventually won the statuette (in 1979) for his portrayal of the murderous title character in Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd."

Off the boards, Cariou has appeared in films and television, most notably as former President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the HBO movie Into the Storm, for which Cariou garnered his first Emmy nod.
