Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 2, 1947, Larry David hit the stand-up circuit in 1974, where he would eventually meet fellow funnyman Jerry Seinfeld. But the pair wouldn't launch their hit sitcom "about nothing" until more than 15 years later.Meanwhile, David sharpened his skills as a writer and performer on the variety shows "Fridays" and "Saturday Night Live" before landing small roles in films such as director Woody Allen's Radio Days (1987) and New York Stories (1989). David reunited with Seinfeld in 1990 to create the show that would make him famous and score a slew of Emmy nods to boot, winning the award for Best Comedy Series in 1993. (Jason Alexander's character on the program was modeled after David.)
David followed the success of "Seinfeld" with the Emmy-nominated cable series "Curb Your Enthusiasm," playing a neurotic TV writer-producer named -- what else? -- Larry David.
