Jason Isaacs isn't bad. It's just that he's usually cast that way. Born in Liverpool, England, on June 6, 1963, the steely-eyed actor built his résumé with a steady diet of television and film roles. But it was his turn as a sadistic British colonel in The Patriot that truly set his career in motion.His arresting Patriot performance steered the actor toward a string of villainous roles, including the ever-plotting Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series and the iconic Captain Hook in Peter Pan. But he proved equally adept at crafting more complex characters in The End of the Affair and Black Hawk Down.
The Showtime series "Brotherhood" proved to be the perfect vehicle for Isaacs's talents, casting him as a proverbial "bad son" who isn't so easily categorized. He also earned a Golden Globe nod for his portrayal of a British ambassador in the six-episode political drama "The State Within."
