Hugh Dancy
Hugh DancyBorn June 19, 1975, in Staffordshire, England, to a philosophy professor father and a publisher mother, Hugh Dancy studied English literature at Oxford University. After graduating, he made numerous appearances on British television shows, including "Dangerfield," "Kavanagh QC" and "Cold Feet."

Dancy gained greater recognition with title roles in the BBC adaptations of Charles Dickens's David Copperfield and George Eliot's Daniel Deronda. He then made the move to Hollywood films with his portrayal of a medic in Ridley Scott's war drama Black Hawk Down.

Next came leading roles in Tempo, opposite Melanie Griffith and Rachael Leigh Cook; The Sleeping Dictionary, with Jessica Alba; and Ella Enchanted, opposite Anne Hathaway. In 2005, Dancy appeared in the critically acclaimed made-for-TV movie Elizabeth I (with Helen Mirren) and earned an Emmy nod for his role as the Earl of Essex.
