Born December 17, 1946, in Ontario, Canada, Eugene Levy joined the Toronto-based Second City improv comedy troupe and went on to star in the group's Emmy-winning television show "SCTV," alongside such legendary comic actors as John Candy, Catherine O'Hara and Martin Short.After writing and starring in the show for eight years, Levy made memorable appearances in films such as Vacation (1983), Splash (1984) and both Father of the Bride films. Levy's popularity grew tremendously when he teamed with Christopher Guest to co-write Waiting for Guffman (1996), in which Levy also starred.
The pair further collaborated on Best in Show (2000) and A Mighty Wind (2003), for which Levy won a Grammy for co-writing the title song. His roles as "Jim's Dad" in the three American Pie films and as Steve Martin's best friend in Bringing Down the House (2003) introduced Levy to a new generation of fans.
