The man who became an overnight cult sensation as FBI agent Fox Mulder was born August 7, 1960, in New York City, son of a publicist for the American Jewish Committee. He earned an undergraduate degree from Princeton and left Yale (just short of a graduate degree) to study acting in New York.Off-Broadway work led to a bit part in 1988's Working Girl, followed by small parts in films such as Chaplin and Beethoven, and recurring roles on TV's "Twin Peaks" and cable's "Red Shoe Diaries." Duchovny's deadpan delivery proved a perfect match to "The X-Files" co-star Gillian Anderson's uptight Agent Scully, and the two battled aliens and supernatural beings from 1993-2002.
Duchovny directed several episodes of "The X-Files" as well as 2004's House of D, in which he also starred. Other film appearances include Kalifornia, Playing God, Return to Me, Evolution, Full Frontal and Connie and Carla.
