Known best to audiences as the eccentric Rev. Jim on the sitcom "Taxi," Emmy Award-winning character actor Christopher Lloyd has enjoyed a long career that has its roots on the New York stage, where in the 1970s, he appeared in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" opposite Meryl Streep.Born October 22, 1938, in Stamford, Conn., Lloyd began acting in summer stock at age 16 and moved to New York after graduating from high school to study with noted drama coaches such as Sanford Meisner. After making a name for himself in theater, Lloyd made his screen debut as the mental patient Taber in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975).
Lloyd's true big-screen break, however, didn't come until years later when he took the role of Doc Brown in Back to the Future (1985) and its sequels. He continues to do a variety of work for both film and TV, including voice work for animated films such as Anastasia.
