The son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of Emilio, Ramon and Renee Estevez, Charlie Sheen was born Sept. 4, 1965, in New York. Although he entertained early aspirations of becoming a pro baseball player, he instead ended up entering the family business.Sheen's second film, Red Dawn (1984), became a cult favorite. Appearances in such 1980s "brat pack" flicks as Lucas and Ferris Bueller's Day Off led to his breakthrough role as the young lead in Oliver Stone's Vietnam epic Platoon. On the heels of that, he appeared in another Stone film, Wall Street (co-starring his dad), as well as Young Guns (with Emilio) and the spoof Hot Shots!
After much-publicized personal problems helped to diminish his big-screen career in the '90s, Sheen found new success in the award-winning TV sitcoms "Spin City" and "Two and a Half Men," for which he received multiple Emmy nods.
