Born in Elgin, Ill., May 12, 1950, Bruce Boxleitner found fame primarily as a television actor. He's best known for his work on the miniseries "How the West Was Won," the Cold War spy drama "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" (opposite Kate Jackson) and the sci-fi series "Babylon 5."But Boxleitner also made an impression playing Kenny Rogers' sidekick in The Gambler series of made-for-TV movies and as a digitized computer programmer in the sci-fi classic Tron (1982), a role he reprised for a video-game sequel. Several miniseries -- including Till We Meet Again (1989) -- are among Boxleitner's other small-screen credits. In 2007, he starred in Babylon 5: The Lost Tales, a direct-to-video adaptation of the "Babylon 5" series.
A longtime fan of space lore and technology, Boxleitner became an author with the release of the sci-fi novels Frontier Earth (1999) and Frontier Earth: Searcher (2001).
